Ski resorts can provide a quintessential Currier and Ives Christmas experience. Most resorts offer some sort of winter holiday celebration, but some go the extra mile to create a memorable Christmas ski vacation. Most resorts have terrain for all levels, state-of-the-art snow-making and offer Christmas programming that is rarely experienced at other resorts.

The timing this year was perfect for Lake Tahoe area ski resorts. A potent winter storm over the weekend dumped 5-6 feet of fresh snow at the higher elevations, just in time for the busy Christmas and New Year's holidays. And weather forecasters say more is on the way.

Southern Idaho ski areas are wallowing happily in mid-winter conditions before Christmas. A steady parade of storms boosted Sun Valley Resort into nearly full operation by mid-December with smaller ski areas starting up their lifts for the season much earlier than usual. The Colorado ski reports are equally as good.

We could turn this into a snow report, but what we want to give yourself for the holidays is lessons with top ski and snowboard professionals. You can find them on our searchable database and it's a FREE service.

These professionals will teach you to ski, improve your abilities and show you their mountains. We find that we ski more of the mountain when we have a ski pro with us.

Check in at the ski school at whatever resort you are staying at for the holidays and they will pair you with the right instructor as well.

Have a great holiday and Ski Like That™.
